Kelly & Robin
A beautiful sunset elopement on the Isle of Skye
28th July, 2022
An Intimate and Romantic Sunset Elopement
What can I say about Kelly and Robin? Where do I start? These two wonderful souls travelled half way around the world to get married on the Isle of Skye. But, their journey to this step in their lives began a lot sooner. When Kelly first reached out to me about the idea of coming here, I could tell she wanted something different for her and Robin. Something monumentous, but small, and something intensely beautiful. It was so clear the love they shared for each other went far beyond 'I love you'.
Their souls are connected by something far deeper.
But, they didn't know what the image of their elopement looked like just yet. They asked for my help and together we worked through all of the options for their day, finally arriving at something that made sense for them. A small cottage overlooking the ocean. Sheep grazing in the garden. The gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore from their bedroom window. Peace and quiet to escape their hectic lives and to start a new chapter together.
After an easy morning getting ready, we ventured off to the Quiraing, where they had a traditional hand-fasting ceremony done by the wonder humanist celebrant Gary Smith (give him a shout if you're eloping in Scotland!). On the side of the hill, with 360 views of nothing but rolling hills and dappled light, they opened up to each other, said their vows, and shared a first kiss as husband and wife. It was so beautiful.
After that, we headed to a secret waterfall and then on to one of my favourite places in all of Skye, Sligachan (where my wife and I eloped). On the way there, we grabbed some fish and chips and sat on a stone bench looking out to the gorgeous Cuillin Mountains as the sun set and the golden light drenched the glen.
Thanks so much for asking me to capture your beautiful wedding day guys! I can say for sure that I made friends for life in these two and can't wait to see where their married lives take them.
