A Quiraing elopement story to awaken the wanderlust inside of you.
Are you after some serious elopement inspiration? Silke and Kieran’s shoot was designed to show you all what an adventurous and meaningful elopement on the Isle of Skye could look like. It was made even more special because Kieran proposed to Silke at this exact spot the night before!
Silke and Kieran met through a shared love of dance and have travelled the world together. Their intense bond and connection to one another is palpable. They’re wild, adventurous, loving souls who I had the pleasure of photographing on the Isle of Skye.
3.30am – the alarm goes and I wake up (yes, you read that right). The drive from Portree to The Quiraing on the northern tip of Skye is only 30 minutes. There, waking up to nothing but the gentle mountain breeze and distant moan of sheep where Silke and Kieran, cosied up in their sleeping bags.
They helped each other get ready as the world woke up to the rising sun, taking their time, with no place to be than with each other. That’s the beauty of an elopement – you work to your own timeframe.
Francesca conducted a beautiful hand-fasting ceremony. Afterwards, we explored the mountainside for some intimate portraits. Then, we headed to a fairytale-like place called the Fairy Glen, where they sang and danced. Then, as the blaring sun reached its peak, we ventured to Staffin Beach, greeted by beautifully turquoise water and warm sand between our toes.
